Only wish I’d known about Spence in the sixties. Fresh Creek is a stones throw away from us. I did manage to meet up with Fred McDowell after seeing him at the University of Minnesota. He was greeter at Texaco Stuckeys Pecan Shop off Hwy 55 in Como, MS. Ella May cured beef bones for guitar slides. We ate the rest for dinner.

Much appreciated. This is not the place to mention it - but I've always wondered how ' folk ' music sounds so similar in different regions. Take " mountain " music. Rhythm's from Appalachian mountains (USA ) sound similar to mountain music from Ukraine. Pre airplane travel, radio wave " sharing. The interview on this stack mentions primitive and original. That's a start to understanding the similarities ( imo ). Thanks for this stack. Bahamian folk music. Great listen ( and writing ).
